Lighting and Electrical Product Manufacturing in Vietnam
LED fixtures, lamps and low-voltage electrical goods combine a housing, a driver or ballast, and wiring. The certification your market requires decides more of the quote than the housing does.
What this scope usually covers
- Housings and diffusersMolded, extruded or die cast housings, with lenses or diffusers sourced separately and fitted during assembly.
- Drivers and electronicsLED drivers, ballasts and control boards bought in from named or approved vendors, matched to your input voltage.
- Wiring and assemblyWired, tested for function and dielectric safety, and boxed to the standard your market’s inspectors expect to see.
- Certification testingLab testing for the mark your destination market needs, scheduled against the pilot run rather than after it.
What to put in your brief
Manufacturers quote faster and closer to a final number when this is stated up front rather than found during a back and forth.
- Input voltage and the certification mark your market requires (for example UL, ETL, CE, ENEC, SAA).
- Color temperature, CRI and dimming requirements if the product is LED lighting.
- IP rating if the fixture is used outdoors or in wet areas.
- Whether the driver is a named brand you require or one the manufacturer can substitute.
Where first orders go wrong
- Certification treated as paperwork instead of a testA real safety mark means a lab test on a finished sample, not a factory stating it meets the standard. Ask for the test report before the mark goes on packaging.
- Driver substituted without noticeA driver swap can change dimming behavior, lifespan and the certification itself. Name the brand if it matters, or ask to approve any substitution.
- IP rating assumed from the housing aloneSealing depends on the gasket, cable entry and assembly process, not the housing material. Confirm the IP rating is tested on the assembled unit.
Questions buyers ask
Do Vietnamese manufacturers handle UL or CE testing themselves?
The manufacturer arranges the lab, usually a third party, and pays for or passes on the test cost. You should still ask which lab and see the test report before production.
Can I use the same fixture for two different markets?
Only if you accept the more restrictive input voltage, certification and IP rating across both. Otherwise you are running two products under one design.
